Birmingham Wedding Video
It all started on the grand steps of the Cathedral. Well, if you don’t count the Facebook message that brought Alexandra & David to those steps… 🙂 And BOY are we glad that Alexandra learned to check her message requests, because this Birmingham wedding day was one of the highlights of our year!
First of all, if you’ve followed MPV for a while you know we’re a sucker for a sweet love story, and these two have the sweetest story! (More on that in a minute.) Second, you know that we are OBSESSED with all things southern and sophisticated, and this wedding day was exactly that.
Starting the day at the historic Tutwiler Hotel in Downtown Birmingham, saying those sacred vows at the jaw-dropping Cathedral of St. Paul, then dancing the night away at Haven in Avondale. It was an amazing day!
Alexandra & David Raffin
I mentioned earlier that these two met through Facebook. Here are the cute details! David had a summer internship in Mobile one summer when Alexandra also lived there. She popped up as a “friend suggestion” on Facebook and David sent her a message. Alexandra, being the blondest brunette you will ever meet, (Her words, not mine!) did not know you could get a Facebook message from someone you were not “friends” with.
When that lightbulb finally went off, she saw his message about how he was looking to meet some Catholic friends while in Mobile. Feeling horrible that he must have thought she was ignoring him, she sent an apology message back to him. Sure it was now four years later since he had sent his and neither of them lived in Mobile anymore but an apology is an apology right? When Dave saw her message, and her profile pic of her with another guy, he kept it polite but short since he didn’t want to overstep any boundaries with Alexandra and her “boyfriend”.
Spoiler alert: it was a pic of Alexandra and her big brother. A few months later Alexandra changed her profile pic, Dave thought she had broken up with her brother and carpe diem-ed her DM’s once more. The rest is history!!
Dreamy Wedding Details
The day started at the Tutwiler hotel where Alexandra and David got dressed. We love the Tutwiler, and it was the perfect place for these two with its classic architecture and dramatic lighting. Seeing Alexandra’s glittering gown in that stunning fireside lounge was like witnessing a classic Old Hollywood movie come to life! From there, we traveled just a few blocks over to the Cathedral of St. Paul. Knowing how important this incredible cathedral is to our couple, we knew we had to feature it prominently in their film. A huge thank you is due to our Licensed drone pilot Aaron for capturing the stunning aerial footage downtown! After the full mass and the most gorgeous sunset portrait session with the newlyweds, it was off to Haven to dance the night away…and eat TACOS. Brides– A Taco truck is always a great idea! 👏🏻👏🏻
Alexandra & David,
Words cannot express how thankful we are for you two! From the moment we started talking I knew we were in for an amazing day, but wow! You two are so perfect for each other and we LOVED getting the opportunity to tell a small part of your amazing story. Our hope is that every year you get to watch this film and be transported back to those special steps, no matter how far away you may be from them. We also hope you’ll always give us a call when you’re in town to grab coffee!!
