Amberly & Mills’s wedding at Windy Ridge Farm in Newton, AL was the sweetest. I hope he isn’t embarrassed for me to mention this, but watching Mills looking at his bride all day was the sweetest thing. He looked at Amberly like she hung the moon, and she looked at him with the most love and care I’ve ever seen between two people. Amberly is close friends (and now sister-in-law) with my friend (and an MPV Bride!) Hailey Money. She told me after seeing Hailey & Matthew’s wedding film, she knew she had to have her wedding day filmed as well. We grabbed a quick cup of coffee last month, in between Amberly’s wedding planning errands. I loved getting to know Amberly a bit more. -And the cream brûlée coffee from Dunkin’.- 🙂
The week leading up to March 11 was rainy, but luckily that Saturday turned out to be a stunning, sunny day! Kristi and her crew at Windy Ridge Farm made the already beautiful horse farm look like a dream. I loved the open ceremony area and the gorgeous barn and tent for the reception. Speaking of the reception— Amberly & Mills did something I’ve never seen before! They were welcomed into the reception via a New Orleans style first line, including a saxophone player and the bridal party waving white towels. So much fun!!
A & M first met in high school. She explained that they were acquaintances through college and “our paths didn’t cross again until he reached out to wish me a happy birthday many years later. From there, we haven’t gone a day without each other.”
The Proposal
As we sipped our coffees at Dunkin, Amberly told me all about the surprise proposal. Amberly had been running errands and told me she was “looking a mess in her gym clothes.” (I don’t believe she can look a mess! The girl is gorgeous.) Knowing that Amberly would sniff him out immediately, Mills arranged to have her distracted and kept away from the house. Upon her return, she found him & the ring, and it’s been a whirlwind of planning their forever since.
Windy Ridge Farm has the most precious bridal suite, it sits adjacent to the white farmhouse. Inside, Amberly & her bridesmaids sipped wine in monogrammed glasses, wearing pink robes.
The guys hung out watching sports and snacking on Cheetos in the barn’s groom cave. Neither the bride or groom seemed to be nervous. In fact, when I asked the bridesmaids how Amberly had been all morning, they said she was very calm! I could tell she was taking in every moment of their day, as was Mills! Mills is an absolute gentleman, who I can tell has always been a strong supporter of his family. Watching him interact with his Momma was so sweet.
Details
Speaking of Mrs. Money..as the owner of The Flower Pot in Abbeville, she designed all of the floral arrangements decorating the ceremony and reception. Amberly’s bouquet featured cream colored ranunculus, hydrangeas and plenty of eucalyptus. From the ceremony program, printed out on a large poster and encased in a gold frame, to the hand-painted signs welcoming the bride down the aisle, explaining to the audience that “Love is patient & kind,” each detail of the day was carefully thought out and executed perfectly.
Amberly’s something blue was a vintage blue ring, given to her for the day by her mother. I could tell she treasured this blue ring, by the way she showed it off to me with a smile. Speaking of a treasured piece of jewelry, she also chose to wear her Grandmother’s pearls, and they completed the classic look of her lace dress.
Mills & Amberly exchanged the sweetest notes to each other, along with personalized bibles. Amberly gave Mills a beautiful set of cuff links, and a tie to wear with his navy suit.
I have to say, my favorite part of the day was the exchanging of the vows. You can’t help but smile listening to these two vowing to love one another forever.
Dear Amberly & Mills,
It was such a blessing to be part of y’all’s big day! I loved watching you two share your love for each other. I especially love how you incorporated Ruth 1:16 in your wedding vows. “But Ruth answered, “Don’t force me to leave you. Don’t make me turn back from following you. Wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.” It is such a good reminder that marriage is a choice, one that takes daily persistence and steadfast stubbornness (just like Ruth) to stay or go where our spouse leads us. I pray that the Lord will guide you in this marriage! I hope you two enjoy your wedding film, it was my pleasure to create it!!
