It’s no secret that my heart truly is happy when I am surrounded by spanish moss, magnolia blooms, a peaceful waterfront and good southern style. All of these features are on full display when you step foot on Lowndes Grove Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. The low country calls to me in a way I can’t explain.⠀

From the ancient oak trees, reaching out over sandy beach pathways, to the slow, restorative and utterly romantic pace you can’t help but adopt the minute you step foot in Charleston…it makes time stand still, and a love story that much more romantic. Though time has passed and cars line both sides of the street, folks stroll by with iphones raised up to capture the beauty of the city, and there was a Moe’s Southwest Grill not far from where the original Trawick’s lived…it’s still a magical place where you can go back in time if you squint your eyes just a little. ⠀⠀

Lowndes Grove is the perfect venue for couples looking to have a classically southern wedding. For this wedding-inspired shoot, Katelyn Pinner Studios created a soft, yet stunning statement with each overflowing petal she placed. Her floral designs accented the estate’s sprawling white architecture, with a variety of dogwood, peonies, lambs ear and ranunculus in each floral arrangement.   Bridget Davis Events planned a spectacular wedding styled shoot, looking to Charleston’s low country and history as her inspiration. From the haint blue touches, to the delicate yet structured Claire Pettibone lace gown, each detail executed her whimsical and romantic theme to a “T.”

The Lowndes Grove estate was built in 1786, and is filled with gorgeous natural light and soft bright and airy decor, perfect for bridal preparations and bridal portraits. We all caught ourselves gushing over how stunning Marilyn looked as she gazed out the window to the Ashley River.

Guests were welcomed under white canvas umbrellas to enjoy the ceremony in front of the estate, and after the first kiss, flower petals cascaded down to celebrate the new Mr. & Mrs.! The stunning bride & groom then hopped into a vintage Rolls Royce, courtesy of Low Country Valet, and drove off into the sunset.

Let’s just say I am waiting with baited breath to hear from my next couple to get married at this stunning venue!!
