Auburn United Methodist Church & Saugahatchee Country Club
January 26, 2019 | Auburn Wedding
It’s official– all the best couples have an Auburn wedding. Well, at least, from what we’ve experienced! When Betty called to tell me that she and Austin were planning to be married on January 26- my wedding anniversary! I knew Kelsey & I had to be there as their Auburn wedding filmmakers.
Then, after having dinner with them at Zazu Gastro Pub in Opelika, I knew it was going to be the BEST DAY. And it was!!
The day started for the girls at the Hotel at Auburn University, where you could look out of the window while sipping mimosas and see Samford Hall. Since these two met while in college at Auburn (Betty has her Doctorate in Education and Austin has his in Veterinary Medicine.)
Meet Betty & Austin
Betty & Austin met one night when Austin came up to Betty thinking she was her twin sister Holly. They talked for a good bit, and ended the night wanting to get to know each other better. As fate would have it, they ended up having their first date on Thanksgiving with Austin’s family. Betty said it best, that “Being a twin has always had its perks… and on August 23, 2013, being mistaken for Holly allowed me to be introduced to my future husband and best friend!”
The Proposal
Austin proposed to Betty started out like all of their other typical Sundays… except they went to the early service at Church because they had plans for Father’s Day. Later that morning they returned to Austin’s house before going to visit with family. Betty said “I walked to his guest room to get a lint roller… because we have a lot of animals and with that comes a lot of hair. When I was in the guest room, I heard him say, “Hey Betty,” and I said “hey!” “He said I have a question for you,” and to that I replied, “what’s up?!” as I was walking out of the room into the foyer… only to be greeted by my favorite person down on one knee asking “will you marry me!” Of course I said “yes!”
Tearful MOH Reception Speech & Rehearsal Speeches
Probably one of our favorite moments in their film is Holly’s Matron of Honor speech. We had to fight back tears as she talked about the bond she and Betty share, and how happy she is that Betty found Austin.
Speaking of Austin, we loved hearing his Momma & closest friends talk about him and a very special lady in his life while filming the rehearsal dinner speeches. We will always love capturing these memories for couples!
One of the other memorable moments in their film (in our opinion) was Betty’s stunning walk down the aisle to Austin. The doors to the Auburn Wedding ceremony opened, revealing Betty smiling widely, so excited to start her forever with Austin. h
