Meet the Couple
Elizabeth & Cowan
Cowan & Elizabeth are the kind of people that just make you smile and say, “that is true love right there!”From the traditional lace gown to the bridal blue soles on her satin heels, Elizabeth was the picture of a southern bride, and Cowan was by far the sweetest southern groom I’ve ever come across. Soft-spoken but strong, you can tell that this girl is loved fiercely by everyone who meets her. How could you not? And she looked STUNNING in her Allure bridal gown from Bridal Bliss in Homewood. (And her relationship with her Daddy–oh my goodness. So sweet.)
Cowan has the biggest heart for his girl, and his family. We were all wiping a little tear away during his first dance with his Mom, seeing him give her a big hug and saying, “I love you momma.” He’s the kind of guy that isn’t afraid to share his feelings and gush over how gorgeous his bride is, then cut a rug and have a blast on the reception dance floor.
Hearing them describe their love story in their wedding day love letters will make any heart swell.
The Venue
Water Oak Manor | Auburn, AL
There will always be a place in my heart for a classically southern wedding venue, and Water Oak Manor in Auburn is just that. Its white porches with haint blue painted ceilings are so inviting, they make you want to grab a good book and a glass of sweet tea and just sit a while. Not to mention the lovely interior of the home, decorated in soft tones perfect for a southern bride. The feature that stands out about this sweet venue is the chicken coop over to the right from the bride’s quarters. It’s no backyard coop, y’all. It’s a precious white home, with chickens inside that have been lovingly named by the owners of the Manor.
Their ceremony was held on the front porch of the manor, with guests sitting in white chairs on the front lawn. Thorne & Thistle did an amazing job creating a greenery swag over the manor’s front door, perfect for getting married under. Speaking of florals, Elizabeth’s flowing bridal bouquet was just perfect!! Pops of pink and greenery, with plenty of eucalyptus and roses. It perfectly complimented her sweet demeanor and that gorgeous lace gown.
Southern Wedding
Rainy Wedding Day
Guests sat in front of the traditional southern home with their umbrellas, listening to the rain falling softly on the cobblestone brick, making time with the first few notes of the Bridal March. As they stood, Cowan started grinning from ear to ear, seeing the first glance of his gorgeous bride.
After getting hitched, these two enjoyed a night of fun and dancing to the energetic Pilot 54 band! I have to admit, I was caught singing along a few times while filming this fun reception.
Even though they buried the bourbon, God had other plans for these two in the form of sending rain and they took it all in stride with the utmost grace & class!
Elizabeth & Cowan,
Thank you so much for allowing us to be a small part of y’all’s story. Your day was perfect, rain and all! You handled each thing with grace and a smile, and I think that shows just how gracefully you’ll handle marriage. You two have a love like Pam & Jim. (The Office reference–just for you Cowan! haha)
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Woodham!!
