Perfect Weather. Precious Couple. Sweet Puppy. Helpful friend. Gorgeous location. Possible Poison Ivy exposure & maybe a dent in the Kia for the photographer. Oh well! Worth it!
Y’all. Saturday’s Engagement session at Oak Mountain State Park was so much fun.
First of all, Rebecca & David have so much fun together, you can’t help but smile around them. David is a ham, and kept his soon to be bride laughing the whole time. These two already had traditional engagement portraits done, but they asked if they could take some shots with their fur-baby, Louie. Being a dog lover myself, of course I said, “Heck yes! Let’s do it!” I did some research (ie-googled “how to take engagement portraits with a dog”) & found some great tips to send to Rebecca from one of my photographer crushes, Kaitlyn James.. So camera in hand, treats & doggy bags in tow, we set out.
I give my clients this awesome style guide before their portrait session to help them choose the outfits that will help them look their best. Well, after this session, I may just have to add a “what to wear-Puppy Edition” & put Louie on the front cover. I mean, just look at that sweet bow tie!!
What I have learned is that when you add a fur baby to an engagement session, it’s always a good idea to bring along a friend who can puppy sit while the couple takes stand-alone portraits. Paige is Rebecca’s roommate & she agreed to come along for the session to help entertain Louie. I also got her to help me out with some reflector work, which she did, multitasking like a pro. Paige, if you ever decide to go into being a photographer’s assistant, give me a call! 😉
David & Rebecca were also smart & brought along doggy bags for “clean up” and treats to keep Louie smiling big for the camera. I learned that whooping really loudly can get good smiles from pups..makes me realize all those years of cheering TR- WHOOP WHOOP OJ- WHOOP WHOOP- AAAAA-N-S! WOO! Paid off!! Who woulda thunk it? Whoop! Whoop!
R & D, I can’t wait for April 22! We are going to have a blast!
Beautiful job once again, Meg! I know this was a fun one to shoot!
I love these pictures and this couple! SO precious!
