April 28, 2018—Maybe it was the quiet confidence that Adam displayed as he stood there, patiently waiting to turn around to see his gorgeous bride MJ before their first look…
Or maybe it was the way that MJ’s whole face lit up with joy as she gracefully made her way toward him, ready to show him her stunning ballgown and the personalized floral bouquet wrapped in satin and surrounded with photos of the loved ones who were there with them in spirit… Each moment that MJ and Adam had on their wedding day was full of love and sweetness.
Now, these two do not like others to make a fuss over them–in fact, they shared their first dance with several family members and friends–but there’s no denying that they lit up the room (or gorgeous shaded sidewalk with overhanging roses) with their interactions with each other.
I am so thrilled and honored I got to be there to witness the start to their marriage.
Adam and MJ met through a mutual friend. What’s crazy is that even though these two attended same tiny high school for a while (he left after his junior year and graduated from a different school) and according to MJ, they both hung out with the SAME small group of friends for YEARS (throughout high school and college) and somehow NEVER ran into each other. She told me “It’s the craziest thing. We believe we met exactly when we were supposed to! One evening, a friend asked me to come hang out and grill. So I get to the house and I see Adam standing against the kitchen wall with his hands in his blue jean pockets and I thought, “This man and his boots are HANDSOME!” We began talking and when we realized how many times we had been around each other (same time, same place, same friends, a million times!), but had never actually seen each other, we knew there was something special about it. We have been inseparable ever since!”
You can tell the sweet ease they had with each other from just meeting them once, and when you see MJ’s gorgeous ring, you see an example of how well they work together. They actually traveled to Dothan together to design her ring. Then, last May, Adam got really quiet while they sat in their living room one night and told MJ he needed to ask her something. He reached behind her to pull out a new bible with the name “Mary Joanna Johnston” inscribed on it. MJ says it took her a minute to realize that Johnston wasn’t her name yet! When she looked up, there was Adam, down on one knee!
Each wedding and couple is so special to me, because I am just so honored to get to serve my couples with capturing these sweet memories. But this one really makes my heart happy!
MJ & Adam,
Your wedding was absolutely beautiful, and the cake was delicious..but what is most stunning to see is you two and your heart for each other! Listening to Rev. Rascoe talk about you two and your heart for the Lord as well as each other told us all we needed to know. You two are so blessed and are in for a fantastic marriage!
Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Johnston!!
