Richmond Videographer
I cannot begin to explain how blessed I feel to be sharing this Richmond Wedding with y’all today. First of all, the way that we all met was pure serendipity. Ok, maybe not so much serendipity as it was personal connection through my sweet photographer friend Victoria. Victoria is a Richmond Photographer I met two years ago at the Charleston retreat. She recommended us to Bethany and Grant, and after a phone call with them I knew we would be a perfect fit for their fairytale of a day!
Also, can you believe that as a girl, Bethany wrote over 200 qualities she was looking for in a husband–fast forward to this year, and her Father finds it and READS IT at her reception! Spoiler alert– her husband meets each quality!
Meet Bethany & Grant
When I say that these two exemplify what it means to have a Godly love, I mean it. First of all, their story. There is an old saying that “It was love at first sight…” Well, for Grant and Bethany this most definitely was NOT the case. Grant and Bethany met in 2018 after Bethany had been stood up not once, not twice, but rather THREE times in the same week by the SAME fella…
She explained to me that she had made up her mind that she wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with males or dating. The night Grant and Bethany met, she was the least bit interested in him. In fact, she prayed after their initial meeting that she’d never have to see him again. Grant found Bethany to be “pretty” but he was not looking to pursue a relationship with anyone at this time.
Less than a month later, Grant and Bethany would unknowingly run into each other again. In the meantime, Bethany was doing everything in her power to avoid Grant. Before their second interaction, Bethany had prayed a specific prayer regarding her future husband. Fast forward to the night of the second encounter, after waiting patiently for Bethany to stop dodging him, Grant was FINALLY able to initiate a conversation with Bethany which immediately captured her attention as the words he spoke lined up exactly with what she had prayed for previously. Needless to say, these two hit it off from there and continued talking until late into the morning that same evening.
Fasting and Prayer for Their Relationship
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, considering you know the “end” to this story!) the two came to a decision that it would be best for the two of them to spend some time apart while Grant intentionally seeked the Lord and other wise godly counsel for an answer to how he feels towards Bethany romantically. Following the conversation, Grant and Bethany had absolutely no contact with each other for 30 days. During this time, he sought what truth actually is, he fasted for THREE weeks, and relentlessly prayed. His answer to Bethany (as I’m sure you’re all wondering) by the end of this date was: “I’m crazy about you. I want to marry you. You’re my wife.”
Virginia Wedding Day
We loved working alongside Victoria serving these two. Victoria and I talked a lot prior to their day about how we could work as a team to serve them well. We decided that our goal for the day was to capture not only the beautiful, fairytale moments, but each moment in between. In preparation, we prayed for this couple. We prayed for our hearts as we prepared to tell their story. And what a story it is!
Bethany and her girls got ready at the Via Club in Mechanicsville, just outside of Richmond. There were excited giggles and a few tears as she wrote her wedding day love letter to Grant. Grant and his groomsmen got ready at their home church, Northside Baptist Church. This church, with it’s beautiful high ceilings and chandeliers, was the perfect place for their intimate, faith-filled vows. After the ceremony, we LOVED how these two families came together to CELEBRATE, then ended the night in true fairytale style with a horse and carriage. So pretty! They know how to party & be a modern day Rapunzel & Flynn Ryder in Virginia, I’ll tell you. 😉
