Imagine stepping onto an island where every detail feels like it’s straight out of a Nancy Meyers film—gray shingles, cobblestone streets, salt-kissed air, and iconic wagoneers parked on every corner. That’s the magic of a Nantucket wedding, an otherworldly place where time seems to slow down, offering a perfect backdrop for a dream celebration. When you couple this New England charm with the effortless elegance of a Southern California vibe, you get a wedding that is as unique as it is unforgettable.
We loved how the ladies of Lynden Lane described the process: “Crafting an event is like painting on a blank canvas; every stroke must be intentional, from the delicate floral arrangements to the color of the linens.” The brilliant team behind this wedding worked tirelessly to create a vision that balanced Nantucket’s classic wedding elegance with a fresh, modern twist.
Capturing a Nantucket Wedding to Remember
This was the challenge presented to us as the videography team for one of the most memorable Nantucket weddings we’ve had the honor to capture. The goal: to capture and create a Nantucket wedding film that felt more like stepping into a memory- showcasing Amy & Scott’s chic California coastal vibes—laid-back yet refined, personal yet timeless. The fashion-forward couple were perfect hosts to their guests traveling from all over the island.
We LOVED working alongside Valorie Darling Photography & her second shooter, Vanessa. There is just something so special about a team of women joining together to create a seamless experience for our clients. We can’t wait to work with them again! And just LOOK at the beautiful imagery Valorie produced for Scott and Amy!
“You’re My Lobster” Tented Welcome Party
The welcome party set the tone for what would be an unforgettable weekend. Held on the beach, this “sand bar” event was filled with custom touches that immediately immersed guests in the couple’s personalized Nantucket wedding celebration. Every detail was thoughtfully curated to reflect the couple’s style and vision, from signature cocktails served in custom glassware to bespoke lounge areas designed for casual mingling. Our favorite detail? The custom hats proclaiming “Cin, Cin!”
Our Role in Capturing the Perfect Nantucket Wedding
Our job as videographers was to not just document the event but to capture its essence—the joy, the love, the laughter, and, yes, even the way the wind played with the bride’s veil. We worked closely with the design and planning team, ensuring that every beautiful detail was showcased from the best angles. The sweeping shots of the Nantucket shoreline, the intimate exchanges of vows, and the candid moments shared among guests all came together to tell a cohesive and emotional story.
What we love most about filming Nantucket weddings is that our work allows couples to relive their special day long after the last guest has left the island. The footage from this event reflects the true magic of the weekend—a harmonious blend of East Coast charm and West Coast cool.
A Personal Note
This wedding was an especially meaningful one for our team. It marked Megan’s first Nantucket wedding back after the birth of her daughter, Bailey Ann. Bailey Ann was a trooper, traveling to Nantucket with the Megan Pettus Films team (which included our star drone operator, Kelly LaFleur). Alongside us was our good friend Hillary, who kept Bailey Ann company while Momma captured one of the most memorable weddings of her career.
At just a few days over two months old, Bailey Ann seemed to enjoy lounging on Nantucket’s beautiful beaches and visiting Mom at the Wauwinet to nurse, as bottles wouldn’t cut it. She also became quite the people-watcher, especially during our ferry trips from Hyannis to Nantucket. Though the high winds and unpredictable weather caused significant delays, extending our trip an extra day in Boston, Bailey Ann was especially understanding and patient throughout the journey.
Nantucket, meaning “windy island,” certainly lived up to its name—one of our pro tips for couples considering this island paradise as their wedding destination: plan accordingly. The island’s unpredictable breezes can add an element of whimsical beauty, but they also require thoughtful logistics. The team behind this wedding had wind-friendly hairstyles, secured decor, and strategically placed outdoor heaters—all of which ensured the elements only enhanced the day, never detracted from it.
Planning for the Wind in a Nantucket Wedding
Events like this are never just the work of one person or team; they are the result of passionate collaboration. We owe a huge thank you to the incredible Lynden Lane team, the florists, stylists and other vendor teams who poured their hearts into making this Nantucket wedding as perfect as it was. When you work alongside people who love what they do, the results speak for themselves.
A Collaborative Effort
As we pieced together the final wedding film, it became clear that this wasn’t just a wedding—it was a labor of love for everyone involved. The couple’s vision of a laid-back yet sophisticated celebration came to life on an island that, while far from the sunny shores of California, felt just as magical and full of warmth.
To the couple and the team who made it all possible, we thank you for allowing us to be part of something so beautiful. Every time the wind picks up here on Nantucket, we’ll be reminded of this perfect day.
Pro Tip: If you’re considering a Nantucket wedding as your destination, embrace the elements, and remember, as the ladies at Lynden Lane say—magic happens when you plan for the unexpected.
