It happened again y’all.. I’m sitting there, talking with a friend about her recent wedding, gushing over her new wedding band and discussing the details of that perfect day..When she says it. The thing I hear so often, it breaks my heart.

“The only thing I regret about our wedding day was that we didn’t hire a videographer.”

My heart sinks a little.

I wish I could hop into a time machine and go back to that day, camera & monopod in hand.
But I can’t. And that bride can’t either.

So here I am, hoping I can talk to you and explain at least three things (out of many) that you’ll miss  out on when you don’t hire a videographer.

  1. You’ll miss the first words your fiancé says when he sees you for the first time in  that dress. You’ll miss hearing your Daddy’s voice crack as he says his answer to “Who gives this woman away to be married to this man?”  You’ll also miss your excited friends cheering you on as you leave to start your life together.  Audio is so important and it’s a big part of your wedding day. Pictures can show you the still moment captured, but video can give you the audio behind the story. I can give you a personal example of this.. In my wedding album, I have this photo of me holding out my hands to show off my ring. It’s a pretty shot, but easily looked over. When I watch my video though, I hear myself explaining that I chose to have “Cinderella nails & Snow White toes” for my wedding day. It’s just a glimpse into the planning that went into every detail of my day. It reminds me of the sweet time I got to spend with my Momma in the nail salon, choosing my glittery nail polish and deep red toenail polish. The picture doesn’t bring back those memories. My video does.

  1. You’ll miss the characteristics of your favorite people during the day. I love seeing the grace of a bride walking down the aisle, the sweet ring bearer dragging his feet.. One of my sweet grooms was a big guy who you’d think would be just straight-faced, no emotion.. The minute he started reading the letter his bride wrote to him, he just crumbled. The sweetest reaction I’ve ever seen. I think seeing that moment unfold in real time was one of the highlights of their film.
  2. An expert who can help you plan out a fun, stress free day. Did you know that it’s a good idea to have all of your bridesmaids & your mom dressed before you are? Did you know it helps with the day’s time management if you have all of the bouquets delivered to where you’re getting ready? What about the fact that those gorgeous video moments you see that are warm, golden & all around dreamy are captured at a certain time of day?  (All hail the Golden Hour!) What an expert can tell you is that if you want those shots, you should plan with that in mind. As someone who’s been around the wedding day block a few times, I love educating my clients on how to make their day stress free, while setting things up for a gorgeous video.
