As Featured in Martha Stewart Weddings | Sarah & Zach | Cape May Wedding Film from Megan Pettus Films on Vimeo.

Sarah and Zach’s intimate Cape May wedding was a beautiful celebration of their love and commitment to each other. It was not only a testament to their love but also a showcase of their personalities and style. Every detail was thoughtfully planned and executed, making the wedding an unforgettable experience.

A Cape May, NJ Intimate Affair

As the former associate editorial director for MarthaStewart.com, (currently, she is rocking her role at Brides as Associate Editorial Director!) Sarah is no stranger to weddings. Her knowledge and experience in the industry proved invaluable in planning her own special day. From the venue to the decorations and the menu, every element of the wedding reflected the couple’s personality and preferences.

The couple chose to tie the knot in Cape May, New Jersey, a charming seaside town known for its historic Victorian architecture and picturesque beaches. Sarah spent her childhood visiting the Cape, and she and Zach felt it was the perfect place to exchange vows in a beautiful outdoor ceremony, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

Their wedding was not only a celebration of their love but also a testament to the power of thoughtful planning and personalization. In lieu of cake, a homemade cobbler was enjoyed, Sarah’s family recipe. There was no big band for the first dance; instead, the couple’s favorite performer, playing acoustic guitar, and the groom’s own records played as they all enjoyed dinner under the blue sky. It was no wonder that Martha Stewart Weddings featured their special day, a testament to the beauty and elegance of their celebration. Read the full write-up of their day here.

Our Vision for their Film

Sarah mentioned her love for vintage film, and we really wanted to lean into this vibe for capturing their wedding weekend. We brought in the Super8 camera and loved how it added a touch of nostalgia to their film, perfectly complementing the vibes of the wedding location and vibe. We also wanted to make sure their Jewish ceremony was filmed in an unobtrusive yet comprehensive way, keeping the number of cameras small but the intentionality of the movements true. Filming in full sun is never easy, especially with a white bridal gown, so we chose to work with our polarizing filters and embrace the highlights! It turned out beautifully if we do say so ourselves. 🙂
